Match Report: Regional derby draw (1-1)

VCF Mestalla welcomed Villarreal CF B on Sunday at 12 pm kick-off time at the Antonio Puchades on Matchday 15 in group III-B of Segunda División B which ended in a 1-1 draw.

An evenly-poised contest where Emaná put VCF Mestalla in front just before the break and was cancelled out by Sergio Lozano and the spoils were shared.    

Both sides tried to dominate possession right from the off trying to win the battle in midfield. The away side enjoyed more of the ball in the opening minutes as VCF Mestalla set out their stalls in attack through a Koba Leïn effort which whistled past the top corner and then through a Guillem Molina header who enjoyed free header but could not quite guide it on target.  

VCF Mestalla kicked it up a gear going forward as the time wore off and minutes before the interval Emaná put VCF Mestalla in front after having two swipes at it for  his third goal of the season.

VCF Mestalla dragged the opposition out of position as Gozálbez and Jesús Vázquez led the counter-attack to release Emaná who finished it off on the stroke of half-time at the Antonio Puchades.

VCF Mestalla had a confident start to the second half with more fluidity on the ball. Pablo Gozálbez came close to making it two. Alas, the away side shifted it up a gear and Sergio Lozano made it 1-1 to Villarreal CF B on 69 minutes.  

After the equaliser, both sides searched for the winning goal. Carlos González tried his luck with a decent effort following a counter-attack and Kevin Sibille had a header from a set piece situation. The scoreline remained unchanged and the points were shared.
